Interested in working at sea? This Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00, join us for the traditional Piispisperjantai with special guests Ville Käldström and Peter Ramsten, experts from the Maritime Employment Services of Turun työllisyysalue.

They will explain how to apply for maritime jobs and how to obtain or renew the certificates needed to work onboard ships. You'll also learn about the skills and qualifications required, and there will be time to ask your questions.

Previous editions of Piispisperjantai, guests such as Aatu Pyy, outreach coordinator at Turku City Theatre, will share insights on the city’s upcoming cultural events.

Erkka Railo, a political expert and researcher, who explained who is eligible to vote in the upcoming municipal elections in Turku. He also provided internationals with information about Finland’s political parties and how the electoral system works.

Merit Kuusniemi also joined to discuss common mistakes made when starting a business and how to avoid them. She talked about the language barriers internationals face when looking for jobs in Finland, the differences between doing business in Finland and the United States, and the challenges of starting from scratch.

In addition, Olli Hakala from the Turku Chamber of Commerce shared insights on how the organization operates and how it supports companies of all sizes.
