Partnering in Business with Germany: Call opened for chilean SMEs seeking internationalization

In this version of the revamped program, the focus will be on companies in renewable energy, energy efficiency, eco-design, circular economy, sustainable buildings, electric mobility, and clean production in general.

With the objective of strengthening the internationalization of small and medium-sized Chilean businesses, the German government, in conjunction with GIZ, the Ministry of Economy, Promotion and Tourism of Chile and Corfo, opened the first call for 2025 of the program Partnering in Business with Germany which seeks to strengthen the commercial collaboration between both countries.

The initiative allows beneficiaries to participate in a specialized training program and a three-week trip to that country to connect with potential German strategic partners. In this version, the focus is on companies from sectors such as renewable energies, energy efficiency, eco-design, circular economy, sustainable buildings, electric mobility and eco-packaging; however, no productive sector is excluded from the call.

A Program with Four Key Phases

The program is structured in four stages, which in total amount to 9 weeks of training:

  1. Introductory workshop, where participants receive an overview of the program and its objectives.
  2. Specialized training, provided by a certified German training center, where skills in business management, commercial project development, and international relations are strengthened.
  3. Travel to Germany, scheduled between Monday, June 16 to Thursday, July 3, 2025. For three weeks, the selected individuals will attend the Hannover fair u2014one of the most important industrial events in the worldu2014 participate in business meetings, and take part in group networking activities.
  4. Project monitoring, where participants will develop their business initiatives with the support of the program.

Requirements and Financing

To apply, advanced English proficiency is required as well as the submission of a long-term commercial cooperation project. In addition, companies must already have a product or service available in the market.

The program covers training, half-board accommodation in Germany, transportation to meetings and company visits, in addition to basic health, accident and liability insurance. Participants will have to cover their airfare and any additional expenses in case of extending their stay.

He added that, "To date, we have a network of alumni of 300 managers of Chilean SMEs, who have managed to familiarize themselves with the German market, establish business relationships with German companies, and create long-term partnerships."
