Stranger Things countdown begins with its official trailer: Here's how its protagonists break it down

After 9 years since its premiere (July 2016), yes, you read that right, nine years! Stranger Things begins the countdown for its final season and definitive farewell from the squad that took us back to the '80s. It does this with the release of its official trailer, which brings us back to the showdown with Vecna.
In the images, we can see how each of the protagonists has their moment for the final confrontation with Vecna, who has his sights set on Will, while the town is completely shaken by the great number of dimensional portals that have opened. Meanwhile, the military has cordoned off the town of Hawkins, after the government declared it under quarantine and intensified the search for Eleven, forcing the protagonists to hide even more.

In the countdown to the final chapter, the cast, creators, and executive producers of "Stranger Things" set the stage for what's to come, indicating where the characters are at the start of the season.
At TUDUM, the protagonists shared their vision on what the final season of the series will be like.
"This season we're going straight to action, and Eleven is in training mode. This is the first time we see her as a warrior at the beginning of a season. The only thing that matters to her is to protect her friends. They are the family she chose, so she will do whatever it takes to keep them safe, and we're going to witness it," said Millie Bobby Brown, who has brought Eleven to life.
Meanwhile, Noah Schnapp (Will) stands out, "Will is returning to Hawkins this season. In the last one (S4), he was out of town, so now we see the impact of his return. This season we start with a bang, unlike the previous years, and that's very exciting. Everyone is in the same place and shares the same goal".
"Mike resumes leadership mode and with it, the responsibility to help and plan the missions. The whole group is determined to find Vecna and put an end to all this," Finn Wolfhard (Mike) stated.
For (Dustin) Gaten Matarazzo, "Dustin is feeling a bit depressed. I think everyone is affected by the state Hawkins is in and it's becoming increasingly difficult for the group to keep every piece in its place. We are grappling daily with what it means to be safe and trying to find Vecna, in addition to the heavy emotional burden that is overcoming us from the events of the previous season".
While for Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), "Everything looks fine at the start of each season, but this is the first time we dive right into the action, and the dangers are the same as they were at the end of the previous one. We didn't defeat Vecna, and the problem remains the same. We're still trying to figure out how to solve it and it's possible we won't, so there's a perceived pressure on Lucas and all the characters of the series. Everyone is at risk and we're just trying to keep hope alive."
Meanwhile, Sadie Sink (Max) highlighted that, "Max was left in a very complex situation in season 4. The last time we saw her, she was in a hospital bed. Eleven looks for her in the void, but cannot find her. Of course, Max is no longer the same. But there is still a small glimmer of hope and her friends cling to it".
"I believe what makes this season unique is that it already begins with some chaos, because our heroes lost the battle at the end of Season 4. Before, we generally depicted their lives and what was happening to them in school, and then we introduced the supernatural element. But, this season is full speed ahead right from the start," explained Ross Duffer (co-creator, executive producer, scriptwriter, director).
Meanwhile, for Matt Duffer (co-creator, executive producer, scriptwriter, director) "They are not living a normal life. In Hawkins, nothing is normal anymore. The town is in quarantine, so they cannot move freely, and there are security cameras everywhere. A lot is happening, which reflects on everyone's day-to-day life."
"The action sequences and visual effects are at another level, but that emotional base remains intact. Part of the magic of the series is that, even though we keep evolving and the narrative becomes increasingly incredible, everything is rooted in these characters that we love," said Shawn Levy (executive producer and director).
THE LAST BATTLE
Autumn of 1987. The town of Hawkins is still shaken by the opening of multiple portals and our heroes come together to achieve one single goal: to find and kill Vecna. But he has disappeared without leaving any trace. To complicate matters further, the government has declared the town under quarantine and has intensified the search for Eleven, forcing her to hide once again. As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, a known and horrifying threat is also looming.
The final battle seems imminent, and the group will have to face a darkness more powerful and deadly than ever. To end the nightmare, they will all have to fight together one last time!
