Unpacked 2025: Samsung introduces its new Galaxy S25, S25Plus and S25 Ultra with multimodal AI
The multimodal AI is capable of understanding text, voice, images, and videos, which makes the interaction between the user and their phone as natural as speaking with another person.
Finally, this Wednesday, Samsung introduced the new family joining its Galaxy S series, namely the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25, indicating that they want to "establish a new standard as an AI-driven companion". How will they achieve it? Here we share some details.
With the introduction of multimodal AI agents, the Galaxy S25 series marks Samsung's first step in their vision to transform user interaction with their phones, and the world. A Snapdragon® 8 Elite chipset, customized for Galaxy and unparalleled in its class, provides increased on-device processing power for Galaxy AI, and improved camera range and control thanks to the next-generation Galaxy ProVisual engine.
"The greatest innovations are a reflection of their users, which is why we have evolved Galaxy AI to help everyone interact with their devices in a more natural and simple way, trusting that their privacy is protected," said TM Roh, president and head of Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience business.

With One UI 7, the Galaxy S25 series becomes a true AI-powered companion that understands the context of your needs and preferences, offering personalized AI experiences with guaranteed privacy at all times. It is the starting point of a shared vision with Google to envision Android with AI at its core, bringing together developers and partners from around the world.
AI agents with multimodal capabilities allow the Galaxy S25 to interpret text, voice, images and videos for interactions that feel natural. Improvements in Google's Circle to Search make searching on your phone screen more useful, faster and contextual. "Circle to Search" now quickly recognizes phone numbers, emails and URLs on your screen, allowing you to make a call, send an email or visit a website with a single tap.
The Galaxy S25 also marks a breakthrough in understanding natural language, simplifying daily interactions. Simply ask for what you need and intuitively find a specific photo in the Samsung Gallery or adjust the font size in Settings. Using the side button, you can activate Gemini, enjoy a smooth interaction between Samsung apps, Google, and third-party apps like Spotify.
The Galaxy S25 organizes your calls with the Call Transcript function and summaries. With the Writing Assist function, such as summarizing content or automatically formatting notes, these can be enabled by selecting texts, without the need to switch between applications. And Drawing Assist unlocks new ways to bring ideas to life through combinations of sketches, text, or image prompts.
In the age of AI, personalization goes hand in hand with privacy. In the Galaxy S25, the Personal Data Engine powers custom AI features by securely analyzing your data directly on the device, offering highly adapted experiences that reflect your preferences and usage patterns.
The Galaxy S25 also introduces post-quantum cryptography, protecting personal data against emerging threats that could increase with the evolution of quantum computing.
PERFORMANCE
The Galaxy S25 series is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy. With exclusive Galaxy customizations, this is the most powerful processor ever seen in the Galaxy S series, offering a performance increase of 40% in the NPU and 37% in the CPU, and 30% in the GPU compared to the previous generation.
The Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy is also equipped with Vulkan Engine and enhanced ray tracing, offering a smoother and more realistic mobile gaming experience.
Also, the Galaxy S25 series offers ultra-detailed captures across all ranges thanks to its high-resolution sensors and the ProVisual engine, setting a new standard for mobile photography. With a new 50 MP ultrawide sensor, an upgrade from the previous 12 MP, the Galaxy S25 Ultra provides exceptional clarity and vividness.
The 10-bit HDR recording is now applied by default, offering a color expression four times richer compared to 8 bits. This allows the Galaxy S25 to capture details in any lighting condition and analyze movement and time to reduce noise more effectively. This integration allows for detecting both moving and static objects with greater precision, ensuring sharper and cleaner recordings in any scenario.
Audio Eraser simplifies the removal of unwanted noises in videos. By isolating sound categories, such as voices, music, wind, nature, crowds, and noise, you can control what to reduce or completely eliminate; with Virtual Aperture, integrated into the popular Expert RAW, controls the depth of field; and with Galaxy Log, which allows precise color grading options for a more professional video production.
GALAXY S25 ULTRA: THINNER AND LIGHTER
The Galaxy S25 Ultra becomes the thinnest, lightest, and most durable Galaxy S to date, with rounded edges for a comfortable grip that complements the aesthetic identity of the series.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S25 Ultra includes durable titanium and the new Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2, an innovative material more durable than glass. This combines Corning's glass ceramic with a patented anti-reflective surface treatment, ensuring advanced drop protection, scratch resistance, and reflection reduction.
Each external component of the Galaxy S25+ and S25 now includes at least one recycled material, as its metal frame incorporates high-strength recycled aluminum for the first time.
In addition, each device in the Galaxy S25 series uses a minimum of 50% recycled cobalt in its battery. The Galaxy S25 will be the first Galaxy smartphone to include batteries made with recycled cobalt originating from previous Galaxy devices or from batteries discarded during the manufacturing process.
Samsung collaborates with like-minded partners through multiple stages, from the extraction of cobalt from used batteries to the recycling and reuse of cobalt for the Galaxy S25 batteries.
