Documentary "Signs from the Ocean" was showcased at Innovation Week of Expo Osaka 2025
ProChile highlights the presentation of the production of national origin, which underscores the importance of protecting marine biodiversity and also emphasizes the technology developed in our country that allows us to listen to underwater sounds to avoid vessels colliding with whales.
The award-winning Chilean documentary "Signs from the Ocean", which was developed in partnership with the science-based technology company Acústica Marina, global agency MGC, and the Pacific Mining Company (CMP), was exhibited at the Innovation Week held at the Expo Osaka 2025, in the pavilion "Makün: The Mantle of Chile".
This audiovisual piece details how the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven hydroacoustic measurement system in buoys located at sea, allows for the conservation and protection of marine ecosystems.
In the nearly eight minutes of duration, it narrates how this technology of Chilean origin, which is currently operational in the commune of La Higuera in the Coquimbo Region, and a pioneer at a global level, is capable of detecting and listening to sounds automatically to generate alerts, in the presence of ships and cetaceans.

"Something that connects us with Japan is the Pacific Ocean, and that's why we want to connect with the public visiting the Chilean pavilion, through this immersive audiovisual exhibit. Showing this documentary in this exhibition is a very important window for our country, as it allows us to showcase our capabilities in terms of innovation for ocean sustainability," commented the director of Marine Acoustics, Marcela Ruiz.
The regional director of ProChile Los Ríos, Bárbara Sepúlveda, reports that this company was selected by the Go Global program to go to Miami, where she had the opportunity to explore and promote Chilean technology in that North American market, in addition to having received support to be part of promotional actions in Peru.
Barbara Sepulveda comments that the Expo is a great showcase for the work being developed by companies like Marina Acoustics because it "highlights our commitment as a country to sustainability and the protection of marine life, which are part of the foundation of our message at Expo Osaka".
Similarly, Sepúlveda emphasizes that this documentary exhibition demonstrates how Chilean science and creativity can save lives and design a more conscious future. ProChile has been key in the internationalization of Acústica Marina, and its presence at this global showcase will continue to open doors for its impact on the world.

"For us, this documentary represents a great pride, not only because of the awards and recognitions received, but also because it allows us to be part of a project that seeks to promote the care of whales and the marine ecosystem in general. We are confident that this piece will also resonate with the audience in Japan, not only appealing to emotion, but also educating on how these technologies can save species," detailed the creative director of MGC Global Group, Juan Pablo Gaete.
The sounds of the Chilean sea were present during the Sea Week at Expo Osaka, capturing the interest of all attendees. Therefore, following its success, Acústica Marina and MGC decided to provide more related content, allowing greater visibility for this project that contributes through its innovation, biodiversity, and creativity.
"Signs from the Ocean" has been recognized at various festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Wina 2024, and its arrival to the Japanese audience marks a new milestone in this Chilean production.
