Chilean-Uruguayan startup Foccuz expands to LATAM after raising US$ 700 thousand

This software solution automates the business process in aspects such as sales projections, goal setting, commission and incentive calculations, and performance evaluations.

Foccuz, a Uruguayan-Chilean company that develops software for the management of sales performance, raised a pre-seed round for US$ 700,000 in which they participate VC Caravel, MGV Capital, Kuiper VC e Invariant, which will focus on surpassing 100 corporate accounts and more than 2,500 users by 2024 in three Latin American markets, including Chile.

This is its first round of investment and, in addition to the aforementioned funds, several angel investors are participating. The capital will be used to continue the development of its product, attract new talent and make its official launch in Latin America, where in addition to our country it will concentrate in Mexico and Colombia.

Foccuz’s interest in Chile is based on the opportunities it presents as one of the leaders in innovation and technology in Latin America. In fact, it has already signed a contract with Itaú Chile and its goal is to lead the market within two years.

Foccuz helps companies increase their results by increasing commercial productivity, improving efficiency and increasing commercial activity, thanks to its software that automates the commercial process.

A BIT OF HISTORY

The company was founded in 2023 by Gabriel García da Rosa and Claudia Van Os -who were respectively VP of Growth and leader of the administration and collections team of the Mexican unicorn Nowports, a digital freight forwarder with operations in 7 countries-, and Martín Llofriu, who in her previous experience was Principal Robotics Scientist at iRobot, developer of robotic devices and creator of the famous Roomba.

During their time in these companies, the three experienced first-hand the challenges of the commercial area, as well as the frictions and inefficiencies generated by the lack of integration and automation in management tools.

Currently, according to the startup, the commercial areas of companies spend between 10% and 20% of their time on manual processes based on spreadsheets, including sales projections, goal setting, commission and incentive calculations, and performance evaluations, which in addition to making the process inefficient, generate friction that impacts the transparency of information and blocks the potential of sales teams.

OPTIMIZE PROCESSES, IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND MAXIMIZE REVENUE

Foccuz provides software that automates all these processes by integrating multiple data sources such as CRM or ERP and Excel, providing real-time visibility to optimize processes, improve productivity, maximize revenue, and make data-driven decisions in less time.

“Foccuz acts as a co-pilot to make the commercial course more efficient, seeking to improve results, transform commercial management with transparency and visibility over information, and allow precise actions. Our software automates commissions and compensation plans, eliminating errors and friction. And it provides clear and actionable insights that guide sales people and the commercial area to set and exceed realistic goals,” says Gabriel García da Rosa, CEO of Foccuz.

Among the most significant challenges the company experienced in creating this tool were the variety of data sources needed for the application, the differences between the functions of business teams within different industries, and the different variable compensation plans that companies use.

“To understand the highly variable differences within the industries and the pains to be solved, we created ‘Foccuz Group’ sessions and feedback meetings to understand and read what the client needed to see in order to address specific problems that we knew existed,” recalls García da Rosa.

The executive states that “our goal is to become the automatic copilot of the commercial executives of B2B companies and thereby boost the potential of the commercial teams. We want to be leaders in the market, setting performance standards for the real estate and software industry in Latin America. The goal is to help sales teams set realistic and challenging goals that will drive their growth.”

For his part, Javier Sánchez Aldana, MP of Carabela, explains that “Gabriel, Claudia and Martín deeply understand the challenges of sales teams, and based on their experience, they have created a tool that goes beyond measuring their performance. Foccuz motivates and guides its clients towards success, with real-time information that allows them to make better decisions to achieve and exceed their goals. We are happy to partner with this great team and be part of their first steps.”

Among Foccuz’s projections for 2024 is to have more than 100 active customers and 2,000 users within the platform in Chile, Mexico and Colombia. Another key goal for this year is to develop the platform’s modules in depth (Commission automation and KPI Visibility, among others) and add more allies to enrich their data sources.

Currently, Foccuz’s solution is used by small and medium-sized companies, with sales teams ranging from 5 to 200 executives, although the company plans future products for larger teams. Among the main areas it serves are sales, marketing, customer success, payroll, and finance.
