With over 4,000 kilometers of coastline, Chile is one of the largest producers of seafood, reaching more than 100 markets around the world. It is the largest exporter of fresh and frozen salmon fillets, canned mussels, and sea urchins. It is also the second-largest supplier of frozen pieces of black hake, whole frozen mackerel, decapitated and gutted.
To reinforce its global leadership position, Chile showcases its high-quality offerings at the Seafood Expo North America 2025, taking place from March 16th to 18th at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
In this year's edition, 9 Chilean companies will be part of SENA with the support of ProChile: Pesquera Catalunya, Manuelita Acuicultura, Aysén Coho, St Andrews Mussels, Landes, Pacific Gold Mussels, Integra Chile, Pva Chile, and Proyecta Corp.
Their products are primarily Atlantic salmon and Coho, trout, mussels, sea urchins, Chilean sea bass, swordfish, hake, king crab, squid, mackerel, clams, octopus, king crab, scallops and cuttlefish.
Seafood Expo North America: a key platform
"The United States is the main Chilean market for sea products exports, demonstrating the superior quality, safety, and reliable traceability of our products. Chilean companies are eager to participate in Seafood Expo North America, a key platform to showcase the commitment of our sea products industry to providing sustainable and high-quality offerings. Our aquaculture and fishing sectors are recognized for producing healthy and tasty products, rich in nutrients like Omega-3 and vitamins," said Andrea Sapag, Commercial Attaché of ProChile in New York.
And he added: "Chile is also recognized for its dedication to sustainable development, using advanced monitoring systems that ensure transparency from production to the final destination. Continuous research and innovation allow us to create new products, all of them adhering to the strictest standards of safety and quality."
Largest Exports
Between January and December of 2024, Chile exported 8.789 billion dollars in seafood products worldwide. The main destination for these exports was the United States, with sales totaling 2.877 billion dollars.
The five main seafood exports to the U.S. in 2024 were salmon and trout ($2.598 billion), deep-sea cod ($43 million), mussels ($36 million), prawns, and hake.

"Over the last two decades, we have developed, in conjunction with the private sector, a business strategy to position Chilean seafood products in the American market through various industry brands, such as Patagonia's Chile Mussel. We have also collaborated with the Chilean Salmon Council. This public-private partnership has borne fruit, as salmon and trout represent more than 90% of the total export of seafood products to the American market," stated the representative from ProChile.
