Andor heats up: Special preview of the second season revealed
Disney+ also reveals a new poster for the acclaimed Lucasfilm series, whose eagerly anticipated second season premieres on April 22 exclusively on the streaming platform.
Disney+ presents a special preview along with a new poster and images from the second season of the acclaimed, Emmy®-nominated Lucasfilm series, Andor, returning on April 22 for its highly anticipated culmination.
The new material offers a glimpse of the filming of the second season of this thrilling series in which the characters and their relationships intensify as war becomes imminent and Cassian becomes a key piece of the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be put to the test and, as the stakes increase, the betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas will become even deeper.
Tony Gilroy, creator and executive producer, states: "One of the great satisfactions of making Andor is the dimension of the story and the number of characters we can meet: ordinary people, imperial lords, passionate revolutionaries. They are real people who make epic decisions and who face issues with terrifying consequences. Cassian's journey is the soul and the backbone of our story, but it's the chorus that makes the show. 5 YEARS BEFORE ROGUE ONE
Filled with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, the second season of Andor is a prequel to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY (available on Disney+), which introduced a heroic group of rebels willing to do anything to steal the plans for the Empire's weapon of mass destruction: The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film.
Andor goes back five years from the events of ROGUE ONE to tell the story of the movie's hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from being a selfless and cynical nobody to a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.
The final season will unfold in 12 episodes divided into four batches of three episodes each. The first batch will premiere on April 22nd and three new episodes will be released each week.
The new season of Andor stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O'Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Alan Tudyk, with Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker.
The series was created by Tony Gilroy, who also serves as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, Luke Hull, and John Gilroy.
Tony Gilroy wrote the first three episodes, while Beau Willimon wrote episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy episodes 7-9, and Tom Bissell episodes 10-12.
The directors of the series are Ariel Kleiman (episodes 1-6), Janus Metz (episodes 7-9), and Alonso Ruizpalacios (episodes 10-12).
