Over 15 years of innovation: the most iconic launches of the Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung has transformed its Galaxy Unpacked event into a true showcase of global technological trends. Over these years, advances have been presented that marked the evolution of the smartphone, foldable devices, and artificial intelligence in daily life.
From foldable smartphones to smart rings, Galaxy Unpacked has established itself as one of the most influential events on the global tech calendar. With each edition, Samsung not only unveils new devices, but also sets the pace of innovation and anticipates the future.
The revolution begins with "S"
It all started at CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore, with the launch of the Samsung Jet, a phone that at that time surprised with its AMOLED screen and speed. But it was in 2010, with the presentation of the first Galaxy S, when Samsung changed the game rules in the world of smartphones.
From there, each Galaxy Unpacked has served as a platform to introduce products that not only stand out for their design or performance, but also to open new categories.
In 2011, the Galaxy Note was revealed, a pioneer in the phablet format and precursor of the S Pen as a creative tool. In 2013, the brand bet on wearables with the launch of the Galaxy Gear, its first smartwatch.
The following years consolidated this vision. In 2016, the presentation of the Galaxy S7 included a massive virtual reality experience with Gear VR, setting a precedent in immersive experiences.
In 2019, the Galaxy Z Fold proved that flexible technology was no longer a prototype, but a reality. That same year, the announcement of the alliance with Microsoft paved the way for a more connected and productive ecosystem.
The pandemic did not stop innovation: in 2020, Samsung held its first 100% virtual event from South Korea, launching the Galaxy Note 20 series and accumulating over 56 million views. It was followed by the Galaxy Z Flip3 (2021), which democratized foldables, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra (2022), which integrated the S Pen into the S line for the first time, closing the gap between the Galaxy S and Note families.
The age of artificial intelligence
In recent years, Samsung has focused its efforts on AI as the central axis of its innovation. The Galaxy S24 Ultra (2024) has consolidated as Galaxy AI, a set of functions driven by artificial intelligence that redefines everything from productivity to mobile creativity. Tools such as Circle to Search, Live Translate, or Photo Assist were born to transform the user's daily life.
Along with this, the launch of the Galaxy Ring, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and the Galaxy Watch Ultra show a clear evolution towards a smarter, more proactive and personalized ecosystem.
In over 25 years, Galaxy Unpacked has not only unveiled devices. It has told stories of innovation, resilience, and future vision. And with each new edition, Samsung reinforces its commitment to delivering technologies that improve people's lives and anticipate what's coming.
