Google Cloud presented, within the framework of the Next ’24 event, a series of solutions based on generative artificial intelligence to help customers, partners, developers, and collaborators continue to innovate. Here are the top 10 announcements within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Expanded access on Gemini 1.5 Pro. Gemini 1.5 Pro, the most capable next-generation model, is now available in public preview version, now also with the ability to process audio files, including videos with audio. Customers can process large amounts of information in a single sequence, including 1 hour of video, 11 hours of audio, codebases with more than 30 thousand lines of code or more than 700 thousand words.
- More models within Vertex AI. Google Cloud’s enterprise AI platform with more than 130 AI models, Vertex AI, features expanded access to a variety of models such as Cloud 3, which is generally available, is Anthropic’s new next-generation model family. The new version of CodeGemma is optimized for code generation and support.
- Google Axion , the first Arm®-based Google Cloud custom CPU designed for data centers, delivers up to 50% better performance and up to 60% better power efficiency than comparable current-generation x86-based instances.
- Image 2.0. It can now be used to create animated short images, such as GIFs from text prompts. This can especially support creative and marketing teams to generate moving images, which are also equipped with security filters and digital watermarks. (Link to video).
- We expanded the ecosystem of services and solutions for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC). GDC’s portfolio enables cloud and AI services anywhere. This year, as part of the GDC announcements, NVIDIA GPUs are integrated for both connected and air-gapped configurations. In addition, the same Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) technology that leading AI companies use on Google Cloud joins GDC. A variety of open AI models such as Gemma and Llama 2 were also enabled, and are now enabled for GDC. And for the most stringent regulatory requirements, GDC offers a fully air-gapped setup with on-premise operations.
- Gemini Code Assist is Google Cloud’s AI code assistance solution for organizations. It was rolled out to a group of developers within Google and resulted in a 40% faster completion time for common development tasks and they spent about 55% less time writing new code.
- Gemini 1.5 Pro on Gemini Code Assist. Now in private preview, this update offers even more accurate code suggestions, deeper insights, and streamlined workflows.
- Gemini in Security Operations: Gemini joins the Google Cloud security portfolio to deliver more robust results and enable all organizations to include Google on their security team. A new assisted investigation feature, generally available later this month, converts natural language into detections, summarizes event data, recommends actions to take, and guides users through the platform via conversational chat.
- BigQuery data canvas It makes data analysis faster and easier with a unified natural language-based experience that centralizes data discovery, preparation, querying, and visualization. It simulates that of a notebook with natural language and built-in visualizations, available in a preview version.
- Next ’24 also highlighted important news and innovations from Google Cloud customers and Latin America had an important representation through the cases of Mercado Libre, Rotoplas and Camanchaca.
- Mercado Libre: is experimenting with vector search to manage its product catalog and improve the accuracy of results. It also uses Google Vision AI and OCR to prevent fraud, as well as document processors such as Document AI to analyze information and automate credit risk assessment at Mercado Crédito. In addition, it is one of the first testers of Gemini Ultra and Gemini 1.5 Pro.
- Rotoplas: advances in its digital transformation with the support of Google Cloud, implementing solutions such as Gemini in Gmail and Workspace to improve the productivity and collaboration of its collaborators. More than 2,000 employees will benefit from Gemini for tasks such as writing in Docs and Gmail, filling in information in Sheets and images in Slides, as well as market analysis and forecasting.
- Camanchaca: has created an agent named Elon using generative artificial intelligence, which makes it possible to extract and combine information from a text file with production data, democratizing access to critical data for all employees, regardless of their technical skills.
