Chile prepares to participate in Expo Osaka 2025 and presents program with 20 thematic weeks

Activities were coordinated by ProChile in conjunction with over 100 trade associations and public entities. May 12th will be Chile Day, the country's national day at the Expo.

Twenty thematic weeks, in which more than 100 trade associations and public entities will participate, will be Chile's contribution to the Expo Osaka 2025, an event that will take place in Japan from April 13 to October 13.

During the 184 days that the World Expo will be open to the public, the Chilean pavilion will have a wide range of activities that will provide a view of the various aspects and diverse offerings of the country and how it contributes to shaping the society of the future, which is the theme of this Expo this year. It is expected that more than 30 million people will visit this world expo.

The weeks are linked to the areas of agriculture and food (fresh and dried fruits, meats, dairy, food innovation, small-scale farming, beekeeping, seafood, wine, olive oil), astronomy, tourism, logistics and ports, sports, mining, resilience in the face of natural disasters, innovation, international cooperation, gender equality, indigenous peoples, biodiversity protection, creative industries, among other topics (see the complete list at the end of the press release).

Ignacio Fernández, General Director of ProChile, comments that Expo Osaka 2025 will be much more than a platform to promote trade, investment, and Chilean exports to the world; it has been conceived as a space where we will showcase the diversity of the country. We will have not only agri-food, but also innovation, creative industries, tourism, and many other topics that we are confident will leave a very significant impact on the visitors of the Expo.

Paulina Nazal, General Commissioner of Chile at Expo Osaka 2025, explains that with Expo Osaka 2025 just around the corner, we are thrilled to bring the spirit of Chile to the world stage. This programming grid aims for Chile to be a significant player in this event and that our country's contribution to global challenges is recognized.

Permanent Bar and Chile Day.

In addition to the 20 thematic weeks, the Chile pavilion will permanently feature a bar with wine, pisco, and other alcohols such as cider, gin, spirits and beers, where visitors can enjoy high-quality Chilean alcohols representative of the various regions of Chile. In total, it is expected that more than 400 bottles of pisco and over 7,000 bottles of wine will be used.

Furthermore, our country will have four significant milestones during the six months of the Expo.

The first is Chile Day. Every participating country in this Expo is assigned a day in its honor. In the case of Chile, its national day at the Expo Osaka 2025 will be on May 12th. The event will feature the presence of authorities and representatives from both Chile and Japan, who will participate in activities that will strengthen ties between the two countries and promote cultural and economic exchange.

One day later, on May 13th, the cultural and artistic activity Chile Fest will take place at the Festival Station within the precinct of the Universal Exhibition. This event promises to be a display of the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the country, presenting a series of musical and cultural shows that reflect the diversity and tradition of Chile.

That same day, a Chilean Dinner will be held within the framework of the Chile-Japan Business Council.

In addition, on June 15, an activity will be organized on the Esmeralda Training Ship, which will conduct its 69th Instructional Voyage between April 5 and October 10, 2025, docking in Osaka between June 14 and June 18.

The Chilean pavilion will be inaugurated on the next April 13th. The pavilion features "Makün, the Mantle of Chile" (a 242 square meter sheep wool mantle woven by 200 Mapuche artisans), which is placed on a Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) structure. The pavilion will offer an immersive experience with screens measuring about 40 linear meters, covering three of the four pavilion walls.
