Chile and Argentina are selected for Qatars "Years of Culture" program in 2025

This refers to a one-year creative exchange program in 2025. Major exhibitions, design exchanges, and photographic trips will return for a diverse program.

The Years of Culture initiative from Qatar has announced the Republic of Chile and the Republic of Argentina as its partner countries for 2025, two nations enriched by the Arab heritage through centuries of migration and cultural exchange, as well as a shared enthusiasm for sport.

The associations for 2025 will showcase shared influences -from cuisine to language- while establishing new collaborations in the initiative's main areas of interest: cultural preservation, creative industries, social development, and innovation.

This annual global exchange was launched 13 years ago by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to strengthen connections between Qatar and other nations through long-term cultural partnerships based on mutual respect and understanding. The programs to be presented this year include performances, exhibitions, sporting and culinary events, photographic projects, residency programs, volunteering trips, and much more.

Among the countries that have participated in previous editions are Morocco (2024), Indonesia (2023) and the MENASA region, which was celebrated during the tenth anniversary of the initiative and the first FIFA World Cup in the Arab world in 2022. In 2025, the spotlight shifts to Chile and Argentina.

Now, building on a foundation of success, we are elevating the initiative to a new level by forming Years of Culture partnerships with two nations within a world region. We welcome Argentina and Chile as our first partners in this new era of the Culture Years 2025".

The Argentine Ambassador Guillermo Nicolás stated, "For five decades, diplomatic relations between Qatar and Argentina have been characterized by mutual respect, trade expansion, and the complementarity of economies. This Year of Culture provides a unique platform to deepen these ties by celebrating our artistic heritage and forging new creative alliances. We are looking forward to sharing Argentine culture and traditions while discovering the diverse range of attractions that Qatar offers".

As in previous years, 2025 will feature volunteer trips organized in collaboration with Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) and Qatar Museums, which will allow students and professionals to participate in community projects in Argentina and Chile. Participants from the three countries will engage in significant cultural exchanges, including outdoor activities such as a collaborative cycling tour.

The iconic Photographic Journey will return in 2025 to focus on documenting and preserving the intangible cultural heritage in Qatar, Argentina, and Chile. The participants will work together to capture the essence of traditional practices and shared stories.

Throughout the year, more events and community celebrations will be announced. For updated information, follow Years of Culture on social media or visit the website yearsofculture.qa.
