AWS and SAP launch a co-innovation program in generative AI focused on business management

Among the practical applications are the optimization of delivery routes and the development of more accurate financial forecasts.

During the SAP Sapphire event, Amazon Web Services, Inc. and SAP announced the launch of a new collaborative initiative in artificial intelligence. Its goal is to foster the development of applications and generative agents designed to solve complex business challenges in an agile and effective manner.

Even though many companies acknowledge the transformative impact of generative AI, they often do not know how to get started. By integrating these advanced technologies with strategic ERP system data, organizations can generate significant value. Among its applications are the optimization of delivery routes, anticipation of logistical disruptions, and the creation of more accurate financial forecasts.

This proposal reflects the shared vision of both companies: facilitating their partners in the creation and implementation of AI-based tools tailored to their ERP environments. The initiative combines SAP's technological expertise with AWS' generative AI services, backed by the support of specialists, consultants, and solution architects from both companies. In addition, technical resources, cloud credits, and other benefits will be offered to drive the design, testing, and deployment of sectoral solutions.

"The robust collaboration between AWS and SAP has been crucial for companies to accelerate their migration to the cloud and maximize the use of their operational data," commented Ruba Borno, Vice President of Specialists and Partners at AWS. "This new program is a significant breakthrough, as it provides the security and flexibility needed to develop generative solutions through Amazon Bedrock, capable of analyzing and acting on SAP's most critical data. Thus, companies can transform years of information into actionable insights and move towards more agile, data-focused models."

"With this joint program, we provide organizations tools to address their most complex operational challenges quickly and accurately," added Philipp Herzig, director of technology and artificial intelligence at SAP. "By uniting the power of our integrated SAP BTP platform with AWS's business process expertise and AI capabilities, it is now possible to create specialized agents to identify financial anomalies in real-time or automatically adjust the supply chain during a crisis."

The proposal also allows partners to develop and scale solutions by leveraging the latest Amazon Bedrock tools, including language models such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, integrated into SAP AI Foundation on the SAP Business Technology Platform.

This announcement adds to the joint efforts of AWS and SAP to modernize the business systems of firms such as Hyundai Motor Group, Moderna, and Zurich Insurance Group by migrating their operations to the cloud. This migration not only provides flexibility and scalability, but also allows the integration of generative AI capabilities. Companies like Accenture and Deloitte are among the program's first strategic allies, driving the development of advanced solutions to solve complex challenges.

Caspar Borggreve, CEO of Accenture and leader of the SAP business group, stated: "This program brings together AWS's cloud infrastructure and SAP's expertise in corporate software. By combining it with our industry knowledge and focus on AI transformation, we show companies how to integrate these services with their most critical operations".

"For example, alongside AWS and SAP, we are working with a public services company on developing capabilities to anticipate natural disasters, in order to protect key infrastructure and maintain operational continuity," he added.

For her part, Nishita Henry, Global Commercial Director of AWS at Deloitte Consulting LLP, commented, "This collaboration leverages the generative AI capabilities of AWS and SAP, combined with our technology expertise and industry knowledge, to deliver transformative solutions. We are currently developing a financial tool based on Amazon Bedrock for healthcare and life science companies, helping them optimize their product portfolio, improve the accuracy of their forecasts, and maintain competitive prices even in uncertain scenarios."
