Google I/O 2025: Google Meet will have instant voice translation in English and Spanish thanks to Gemini

During the biggest event of Google, several announcements were made, among which one of the most notable was the instant translation from English to Spanish on Google Meet, thanks to Gemini's AI.

This Tuesday, the Google I/O 2025 was held, the annual Google conference that this year showcased how AI is driving the internet giant's mission to make information universally accessible and useful for everyone, both users and developers.

During the largest Google event, several announcements were made, one of the most notable being the instant translation from English to Spanish in Google Meet, thanks to Gemini's AI.

"Over time, we also create much more immersive experiences on Google Meet. This includes the technology that helps people overcome language barriers with voice translation, which is coming to Google Meet. Almost in real-time, it can match the speaker's voice and tone, and even their expressions, bringing us closer to a natural and flowing conversation between languages. We are launching translation in English and Spanish in beta version for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and more languages will be added in the coming weeks. Workspace's business customers will be able to use this feature for initial tests this year," the company explained.

AI Mode in Search

Last year at Google I/O, an AI created Vision was launched and since then, a profound change has occurred in the way people use Google Search: today they ask longer, more complex and multimodal questions.

"Since its launch last year, the AI-created Overview has expanded to over 1.5 billion users, and is now available in 200 countries and territories. As people use the AI-created Overview, we notice that they feel more satisfied with the results and perform searches more frequently," they detailed.
