SPARK Finland opens new call for innovative solutions in health tech and life sciences

SPARK Finland has launched a new call aimed at researchers, students, and clinical professionals developing innovative solutions in the fields of health technology and life sciences. The application process began on May 1 and will remain open until May 31, for participants from the regions of Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Kuopio, and Joensuu.
The call targets projects that address unmet needs in the health and biomedical sectors, with the potential to move forward to clinical validation, trials, or commercialization within two to three years. Proposals may range from drugs and vaccines to medical devices, diagnostics, bioinformatics, and digital health (healthIT) solutions.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Addressing an unmet need in life sciences, medicine, or health.
- Using a novel approach (possibly with IP potential).
- Having the potential to progress to clinical phase, clinical trials, or commercialization within 2-3 years.
Applicants are not required to have external funding or an established company to apply. In addition, winners of the Biodesign Finland program have a direct entry path, pending validation by the program managers.
The evaluation process includes an initial review by a panel of academic and industry experts, followed by finalist presentations. Final decisions will be communicated within two to three weeks of the presentations.

- Submit a written application (two pages) and a five-minute video presentation.
- If pre-selected, take part in the evaluation session.
