Inside Mona's Studio: Turku's Most Unusual Wellness Studio No Therapist Needed

The future of wellness isn't always wrapped in sensors, smartwatches, or supplements with hard-to-pronounce formulas. Today, Turku is home to a new business aiming to lead the way in physical wellbeingwithout physical contact.

According to a recent study by Nordic Health Report, commissioned by insurance company If, 88% of Finnish adults report negative experiences related to stress. This figure is higher than in other Nordic countries, followed by Norway (86%), Sweden (82%), and Denmark (72%). Personal wellbeing is, therefore, a highly relevant issue in Finland.

The report also shows that women are more prone to stress, with key stressors including work-life balance (19%), job pressure (16%), and financial concerns (18%). These stressors are leading to symptoms such as trouble sleeping (63%), irritability (56%), and anxiety (50%).

Against this backdrop, Mona Lasecka decided to create a wellness studio focused on physical, mental, and cosmetic wellbeing. Her focus? Contactless lymphatic massages. Contactless? Yes—after her most recent pregnancy, Mona discovered roller massagers: machines with a rotating wooden drum designed to stimulate and massage different parts of the body without the need for hands or human interaction.

She initially used the system to gradually recover her figure and soon discovered other benefits.

"This is a lymphatic massage. The rollers activate blood and lymph circulation, helping the body detox and release tension," explains Lasecka.

How Does It Work Without Contact?

Located just meters from the Aura River at Rantakatu 52, Mona’s Studio combines the feel of a boutique spa with the function of a mechanical gym, featuring two roller massage machines. There are no masseuses. No strangers. Just the client and Mona.

"I teach the postures, but it’s the client who moves and sets the rhythm. The idea is for each person to listen to their body, take their time, and use the session for themselves"

During the first session, Mona provides an orientation where clients learn about the machine, the space, and the various postures they can adopt to relax the feet, calves, thighs, inner thighs, abdomen, arms, and back. After that, it’s up to the client to choose which areas to focus on and at what pace.

Session Effects

Sessions last between 30 and 60 minutes and are recommended two to three times per week—especially at the beginning, when clients are seeking support for physical, mental, or emotional fatigue.

"Many people feel the effects after the very first session. If you do it in the afternoon, you’ll probably sleep better that same night. The body responds quickly when approached calmly and consistently"

The experience is described as a passive practice designed to reactivate internal body functions. After 10 to 20 sessions, Mona recommends taking a break to observe how the body reacts.

As for the impact of the roller therapy, Mona says women may notice improvements in skin texture and a reduction in cellulite, thanks to better circulation. Stretch marks, while not medically treated, can also become less noticeable—especially for women post-pregnancy.

The therapy may also support body shaping, as it helps reduce fluid retention and activates the lymphatic system—potentially aiding weight-loss journeys. While not a replacement for exercise or diet, it can serve as a helpful complement during physical transformation processes.

Complementary Services

Mona’s Studio also offers manicure and pedicure services, with a strong focus on acrylgel application—a hybrid material combining the best qualities of traditional gel and acrylic.

This product allows for strong, natural-looking nails without common side effects such as strong odors or burning sensations during curing. The process includes cuticle cleaning, shaping, and acrylgel application, which is cured under a lamp without discomfort. More importantly, nail health is prioritized by avoiding invasive or abrasive techniques.

Pedicure services follow the same standard of care, with attention to cleaning, shaping, and callus treatment when needed—all in a private, calm setting just steps from the Aura River.

Mona’s Studio is located at ItĂ€inen Rantakatu 52, Turku. Appointments can be booked via Timma.fi, or by visiting the studio’s Instagram and Facebook pagesThe service is also ideal for companies looking to support employee wellbeing through stress relief and recovery sessions.
