Expomin 2025: Finland announces its participation as special guest country
The event held at the Nordic countrys embassy in Chile, brought together key players from the mining sector to present the collaboration between Finland and Expomin in its upcoming edition, which will take place in Chile between the 22nd and 25th of April at Espacio Riesco.
Taking advantage of the fact that the past December 6 was the National Day of Finland, the official residence of the Nordic country in Chile was the setting for the official launch of its participation as a special guest country in Expomin 2025, the largest mining meeting in Latin America.
During the event, the importance of this collaboration was highlighted and the contributions of the Nordic country to the next edition of the fair were projected.
Finland, a recognized leader in innovation and technology applied to mining, will bring its experience in sustainability, digital transformation, education, and community engagement to Expomin 2025.
Johanna Kotkajärvi, Ambassador of Finland, commented that "Finland arrives at Expomin 2025 with a clear proposal: to share knowledge, collaborate on common challenges and build a more sustainable future for the mining industry in Chile and globally. Our participation in Expomin is not just a showcase of technology; it is an invitation to imagine what we can achieve together".

The Finnish participation so far includes 15 companies confirmed as exhibitors at the fair. Rodrigo Tapia González, president of the Chilean-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the contribution.
"The companies that are confirmed today and will participate have a gigantic value proposition, which is to accompany the mining industry in this transition to becoming more efficient and sustainable," he said.
On his part, Francisco Sotomayor, executive director of FISA, emphasized that "Finland is a country widely admired for its excellent education and strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation and human capital, fundamental pillars for the development of the mining sector. Having their support is not only a great choice, but a tremendous opportunity to address the main needs of the industry in Chile".
Expomin 2025, which will be held between April 22nd and 25th at Espacio Riesco, already has 80% of the exhibition sold or committed, positioning itself as one of the biggest editions in history, with around 1,350 exhibitors and the anticipation of more than 70,000 visitors.
The ceremony was attended by Johanna Kotkajärvi, Finland's ambassador to Chile; Francisco Sotomayor, executive director of FISA; Patricio Hidalgo, CEO of Anglo American in Chile; Carola Fuentes, general manager of FISA; representatives of the Chilean-Finnish Chamber of Commerce; and from Mining Finland.
