This new direct route joins those already opened in 2025: Turku-Copenhagen and Turku-Bucharest. The new routes improve both the accessibility and visibility of the region, creating favorable conditions for sustainable growth in both business and leisure travel.
Airline Wizz Air is launching its second new route to Turku within a short period of time. Today, a direct flight connection between Turku and Vilnius officially begins operations, and just over a month ago flights between Turku and Bucharest were launched. The new routes are a welcome addition to Turku Airport’s growing offering.
"From the perspective of air connectivity development in our region, this past year has been truly excellent. New international connections increase travelers’ freedom of choice, support business activity, and strengthen Turku’s position as an attractive and easily accessible city," says Piia Elo, Mayor of Turku.
Wizz Air, one of Europe’s fastest-growing airlines, has announced a significant number of new routes across Europe this year. The Turku-Vilnius flights are operated with Airbus A321neo aircraft, offering 239 seats. The route will run four weekly flights in December, and three weekly flights from January onward, with a flight time of approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes. Wizz Air also operates flights from Turku to Gdańsk, Poland.
"Opening the Turku-Vilnius route is an important step for us, and we are proud to strengthen our offering here in Turku. With four weekly flights to Vilnius, we aim to provide local travelers with even more convenient and affordable ways to travel within the Baltic region. This new connection expands the range of options available from Turku and supports the growing mobility of Finns across Europe. We see how dynamic and forward-looking this region is, and we are committed to being a reliable travel partner for the local community," says Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Head of Corporate Communications at Wizz Air.

Petri Vuori, Director responsible for route development at Finavia, also welcomes Wizz Air’s new launch.
"The new scheduled route to Vilnius, along with the Bucharest connection launched in October, brings attractive new opportunities for travelers and businesses in Turku and the surrounding region," Vuori says.
The new routes complement Turku Airport’s expanding European network, which also includes SAS’s route to Copenhagen, launched this spring, SAS’s route to Stockholm, and airBaltic’s route to Riga. Turku Airport is the fifth busiest airport in Finland, with 220,000 passengers recorded between January and October this year. The new routes improve both the accessibility and visibility of the region, creating favorable conditions for sustainable growth in both business and leisure travel.

Turku Airport serves as an easy gateway from Western Finland to Europe and beyond. By using the local airport, travelers also support the development of air connections and the wider regional economy.
