Brilliant Minds: Startup Revolutionizes Nutrition and Sports Education with New Mobile Game

For years, overweight figures in Chile have been alarming. According to a study conducted by the University of Oxford in 2023, 63.10% of the adult population in Chile is overweight or obese. In the case of children, the situation is no better. According to figures from the Ministry of Health released in the middle of last year and obtained from the controls carried out on children up to 6 years of age, 14.11% are in a state of obesity or severe obesity, a proportion that five years ago was 11.6%.
As a way to confront this reality and to help raise awareness about the issue is that Brilliant Minds, a startup originally from Iquique, announced the launch of an educational game for mobile devices: Nutrition & Sport Game Mobile (NSG Mobile), An app that promises to revolutionize the way people, both children and adults, interact with nutrition and exercise.

Founded on October 21, 2020 by kinesiologists, Cristian Gahona and Rolando Riquelme, Brilliant Minds was born “with the mission of developing educational technology solutions that promote positive changes in the lives of people and their communities,” explains Rolando Riquelme, the company’s chief operating officer.
Their first project, “Schooled Health Education,” co-financed by the Regional Government of Tarapacá, “marked the beginning of a journey dedicated to addressing public health problems, such as obesity and overweight in children and adolescents,” adds Riquelme.
The startup receives the support of the 3IE Institute, a business incubator of the Federico Santa María Technical University, support that the entrepreneur highlights. “What stands out the most are the great mentors we have had, since they through their knowledge and experiences have made the entrepreneur’s journey less difficult,” he says.
